Every year, the Association Française du Cinéma d'Animation (AFCA) organises a not-to-be-missed event for all animated film fans: the Fête du Cinéma d'Animation. This year, the École Supérieure des Métiers Artistiques (ESMA) is delighted to announce its participation in this major national event. The event, which runs from 16 to 23 October, will be an opportunity to (re)discover animated films for all the family in the cinemas on our various campuses.

La Fête du Cinéma d’Animation, a national event

Created in 2002 by the AFCA, the Animated Film Festival celebrates animated films in all their forms. Every year in October, the event showcases short and feature-length films in venues across France. Designed to raise awareness of the richness and diversity of animated cinema, the festival is also an opportunity to celebrate the work of artists and professionals in the field, with screenings, workshops and conferences.

The aim of the event is to promote a rapidly developing art form that is constantly renewing itself and innovating. It gives the general public an opportunity to discover lesser-known works, as well as to immerse themselves in cult animated films.

ESMA, a key player in animated cinema

ESMA, renowned for its training expertise in 3D animation and visual effects, couldn’t miss this event. For over 20 years, the school has trained generations of animators who have contributed to the growth of this industry in France and abroad. Our students regularly stand out at festivals thanks to the quality and creativity of their short films.

Taking part in the Animated Film Festival allows ESMA to reaffirm its commitment to promoting this art form and to offer the public the opportunity to discover the talent of its students through screenings of their films. It’s also a great opportunity to introduce youngsters to the fascinating world of animated film, while offering a friendly, family-friendly experience.

Discover the animated films on our campuses

This year, ESMA is bringing you a selection of must-see animated films to share with the whole family.

An evening of entertainment

The evenings will begin at 6.30pm with the screening of three short films made by ESMA students. These films, rich in emotion and creativity, perfectly illustrate the know-how of our students.

After the screenings, a short talk will take you through the main stages in creating an animated film. You’ll discover the secrets behind the technical and artistic processes that make 3D animation so magical.

Then there will be a screening of the animated feature chosen for each campus, followed by an exclusive exhibition revealing the key stages in making an animated film at ESMA.

A free event for all the family

We are committed to making this a friendly event accessible to all, and all screenings and activities are free of charge. However, places are limited, so it is essential to register in advance to reserve your place. This family event is open to everyone, from the very young to the very old, so that everyone can discover or rediscover the wonderful world of animation.

We look forward to welcoming you to our various campuses to celebrate animation in all its glory!
