DigixArt produces part of its motion capture at ESMA

Road 96, best independant video game (pegasus 2022)

DigixArt, is a video game studio based in Montpellier. Founded in 2015 and recently acquired by the Swedish group Embracer, the studio has produced Road 96, a narrative procedural road-trip video game, which met with great success when it was released in 2021. It’s no coincidence that Road 96 won 5 awards at the 2022 Pegasus Awards, including Best Independent Video Game!

And 2023 promises to be just as intense for the studio, which will soon be releasing the prequel to Road 96. Soberly entitled Road 96: Mile 0, the game lands on 4 April, and will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch from the moment of its release. In this 2023 version, players take on the role of Zoé – already present in Road 96 – and Kaito, two teenagers from very different social backgrounds, with very different convictions. Despite their differences, the two protagonists forge a solid friendship, which will be subject to many challenges.

Participating in the development of CCI*

This fairly ambitious prequel enabled the studio to explore the visual side of the game in even greater depth. And it was with this in mind that ESMA’s Cité Créative came into play, allowing the game’s teams to use the motion capture studio on campus.

“This was one of our objectives when we launched the Montpellier Creative Campus project: to enable us to pool our facilities and develop skills within the region, explains Coline Moire, Communications Director. Since the campus is due to break ground in 2020, this desire to become a real creative hub for the city is becoming a little more concrete every day !”
