ESMA 2024 Game Jam: 10 games completed in just 48 hours !

RENNES, TOULOUSE and MONTPELLIER in “GAME JAM” mode

ESMA is no stranger to Game Jams, which it organises every year to stimulate the creativity of its students, enabling them to push back their limits and discover the full extent of their possibilities. As announced last January, Game Jam 2024 was somewhat different from previous editions in that it opened its doors to high school students and young students from other countries who are passionate about video games and challenges.

On each campus, first, second and third year students from ESMA’s Video Games department welcomed these newcomers, ready to contribute their talents to the collaborative projects. The challenge? Each team had to design a complete video game on the common topic of ‘The Butterfly Effect’, all in just 48 hours!

AN enthusiastic panel of experts 

One thing is certain: the students had no trouble fitting in! They were able to find their place with great ease, in teams harmoniously put together by the teachers supervising the event. In total, on each campus, between 30 and 40 players, more motivated than ever, competed against each other, giving rise to a multitude of innovative and original ideas.

Finally, the 10 games completed within the allotted time were submitted to a panel of professional judges, who all expressed their enthusiasm and praised the quality of the creations presented. The three winners of this year’s competition are :

• L’addition SVP ! For ESMA Montpellier,
• Billy Bob for ESMA Toulouse,
• The Hard Day for ESMA Rennes.

As promised, each member of the winning teams received a €75 gift card.

A huge well done to all the participants, and a special mention to the young high school students who rose to the challenge with flying colours.
