ESMA Game Jam 2024 : a challenge open to young people !

A must-attend event for video game creators, a Game Jam is an opportunity to put your creative and technical talents to the test, with a healthy dose of stress and fubn ! For the first time, this exceptional event will bring togeher our students who are passionate about video games and the curious minds of high school students for a weekend dedicated to creativity and the sheer pleasure of gaming.

An Internal Event, an Open Invitation to high school and university students

Like every year, ESMA organises an internal Game Jam, showcasing the talents of our students from Rennes, Toulouse and Montpellier. But for this 2024 edition, we couldn’t resist inviting high school students to join us for an immersive and intense experience ! It’s an opportunity for them to discover the thrill of a video game designer, and incidentally, the various specialities linked to this field.

Epic Games Partners

Although the theme of the Game Jam is still a mystery, it’s already certain that participants will have to develop their prototypes on the Unreal Engine. In fact, we are delighted to announce that Epic Games, the creators of this revolutionary game engine, are partnering the event !

A Jury of Experts to assess excellence

A panel of video game industry professionals will assess the games created during Game Jam, providing their expertise and advice to reward innovation, playability and, above all, fun.

Cash Prize

The top three teams will not go home empty-handed. As well as honours and recognition, exciting prizes await our winners. The winning team will be awarded a 75€ gift card from the Epid Store (1 card per team member), the perfect opportunity to expand their gaming collection.

Dates et locations

The Game Jam will take place over 48 hours on the weekend of 24 and 25 February 2024, with passionate teams competing at the same time on our campuses in Rennes, Toulouse and Montpellier.

Don’t panic !

As a neophyte, you don’t feel able to take part in the development of a game ? Then don’t panic ! It’s all about getting you started.

You will be welcomed at the start of the Game Jam to form teams and contribute to the initial design of the game (half a day is enough). Then you can come back on Sunday afternoon to try out the games and take part in the prize-giving ceremony. And if your team wins, so will you !

Program :

Saturday morning : creation of the teams, announcement of the theme, pre-production of the game (relfection on the conceptof the game, its game design, level design and graphic concepts).

Sunday afternoon : prototype testing, jury deliberations, prize-giving ceremony.
