Folgore triumphs at Sao Paulo's Big Festival

The Big Festival : a must-attend event

The Big Festival, known as Brazil’s Independent Games Festival, is the biggest video game festival in Latin America. This annual event brings together independent game developers, industry professionals, journalists and video game enthusiasts from all over the world. This year, the festival attracted more than 20,000 attendees, confirming its status as a not-to-be-missed event for video game fans and industry professionals worldwide.

The festival takes place over several days, during which participants can attend presentations, try out new games and attend the much-anticipated awards ceremony. The competition is fierce, with hundreds of games submitted to be judged by a panel of industry experts. Winning an award at the Big Festival is a significant achievement, highlighting the quality and originality of a game. 

The award for Best Student Game is a huge achievementfor our Class of 2023 students. This award opens up new opportunities for our alumni by putting them in touch with influential industry professionals and giving them international exposure.

Folgore: a unique and captivating game

Folgore is a top-down, third-person combat game inspired by comic books and set in Italy in the 1960s. Playable on PC, preferably with a controller, the game offers an immersive and dynamic experience. The player takes on the role of a hero determined to save his fiancée and restore his honour as he travels through the fictional town of Olimpia, inspired by Naples.

The game’s narrative is both captivating and full of twists and turns. The hero makes a pact with the Folgore, a divine artefact endowed with the electrical powers of Jupiter. Although these powers are incredibly powerful, they are also reputed to be dangerous for their bearer. This dilemma adds strategic depth to the game, forcing the player to make judicious use of the Folgore’s abilities while avoiding its harmful effects.

The gameplay is distinguished by its intense action and comic-book-inspired aesthetic. Players must battle various types of enemy throughout the city until they reach the final boss. Each battle is a test of strength that requires both skill and reflection, making each victory particularly rewarding.
