His international experience, particularly with industry giants such as Ubisoft and Naughty Dog, was put to good use by students at the video games school.

“For me, sharing my knwoledge and helping future video game talent is a passion” confides David Ramos. “That’s why I appreciate every opportunity to collaborate with schools like ESMA, where the commitment and curiosity of the students is always stimulating.”

The workshop, which focused on lighting and visual effects (VFX), allowed students to immerse themselves in the creative process under Ramos supervision. “I believe in a practical approach to learning,” he explains. “That’s why I encouraged the students to experiment directly in Unreal 5, while providing guidance and demonstrations.”

The feedback from the students has been very positive, as Ramos point out : “There is a good atmosphere and the students are generally keen on these workshops where they can see different techniques in total immersion. Progess is rapid.”

A concrete example of this progress is that of Kyliann Faggian, a student in Game 3, who has brilliantly put David’s lessons into practice: “His visual effect of a stylised explosion demonstrates an advanced understanding of the concepts discussed during the workshop.” Thomas Bachelier also caught David’s eye with his work which can be seen on LinkedIn.

ESMA Montpellier continues to encourage the professional development of its students by offering them unique training opportunites with industry experts. This workshop, led by David Ramos, not only enriched the students’ careers, but also strengthened the links between the school and the video game industry.
