Comptoir du Cacao

  • Formation Concept Art Illustration

What does chocolate mean to you? Pleasure and exoticism? And rightly so! Because its main ingredient is certainly not grown in the French countryside, but across the seas. Our Illustration students had fun imagining the places where the plant that makes all gourmets salivate grows.

For the milk chocolate collection from Comptoir du cacao, a French artisan chocolate maker, our Illustration & Concept Art students had to create 5 visuals
evoking the countries of origin of the cocoa used in each bar:

  • ghana
  • mexico
  • papua
  • vanuatu
  • vietnam

All these traditional-style designs are adapted to the format of the bars sold by the chocolate company. One of the instructions was that the visuals should not extend beyond the “kraft paper effect” frame that surrounds the front of each bar. There was no particular target audience, but this project was for commercial purposes. The visuals therefore had to attract customers in order to provoke a sale.
